10.22.07 YMCA Westlake Gives SMLCA Green Light
I had a very productive visit with representatives of the new LakeWatch YMCA. They have given the green light to say that we are in the process of making arrangements to use the Y in a variety of ways.
There would be a nominal fee, but the facilities are going to be excellent and could meet many of our needs for next year.
We hope to finalize the mailer in the next few days which would include dates for the two Town Hall meetings. Also, The Franklin News-Post has called to do a story in several weeks. Interestingly, they ran a story Thursday on concerns Franklin County has with school overcrowding.

Three public meetings are scheduled for the end of October to discuss the situation and offer solutions. Other than Windy Gap Elementary, which is still on hold, it doesn't appear any new schools are in the offering. I think the timing of our mailer, meetings and article is fortuitous for us.
I will be visiting The Covenant School in Charlottesville Monday.
Their headmaster came from Hargrave nine years ago and is knowledgeable of the lake area and eager to help in any way. Having visited and coached against Covenant for years, I would consider them a model school to study.

Please continue to send names that you think would behoove them and us to be receiving this information. Also, let me know if you sense a particular burden to be part of a formal prayer group for SMLCA. I would like this group to meet once a week (perhaps at the site) to do nothing but corporately seek God's heart. In the meantime, the 40 Days is a simple way that we can all pray in agreement for very specific needs.
