11.28.07 Yes, it is overwhelming...
I was in conversation with a prospective board member for SMLCA. Contemplating the responsibilities, their initial response was it seemed rather overwhelming. Immediately, the Lord impressed upon me what a perfect response that was. Until we are indeed overwhelmed, our tendency is continue in our own might, our own power and our own strength and usually to our own detriment.
A sense of overwhelming has its upside. First, it demands we cast our burdens to the Lord. The removal of this heaviness not only liberates us to do the things the Lord does want us to do, but allows Him to be glorified. Is it not great to be able to look back and say, "See what the Lord has done!"?
So, I am eager now to confess, "Lord, I am overwhelmed. We cannot proceed or succeed until You intercede."
I am equally eager to get to the point where I can look back and say, "Thank you, Lord, for the great things You have done."
