REMINDER

Friday is our last day of school.  We will not have a normal day of school, because, this day will be “Closing Ceremony”.   Please be sure to review the information that has been sent home about this special day.

Bible

Our Bible story this week is “Jesus Blesses the Children”.  Our memory verse is Luke 18:16, “Let the little children come to me.”

Phonics

Our poem this week is “Turtles”.  We will use this week as a review time for all we have learned this year.

Math

We will be reviewing this week.

Our Pre-K  is a 5 day a week program for 4 year olds, either full or half day.  It offers a hands-on academic curriculum.  For more information, please contact SMLCA at (540) 719-1192.

Applications for all grades are now being accepted.  Application fee only $50 if submitted by June 1st.

Our Bible story this week is “Zacchaeus”, and our memory verse is Luke 19:5, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately.  I must stay at your house today.”

Phonics

Please continue to practice all of the sight words for the year with your children.  Our poem is “Jack & Jill”.  We will continue to work on all of our short “a-u” words.

Math

We will continue to work on time and money.  We will also introduce simple subtraction this week.

Kindergarten thru 9th grade will be doing their Standardized Testing all week.  I am hoping to begin doing the Pre-K PALS testing during this time.

Bible

Our memory verse this week is Psalm 24:1, “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.”  Our Bible story is “The Lost Sheep”.

Phonics

We will not have sight words this week due to testing.  Our poem this week is “Robin Redbreast”.  We will be working on our short “o” words this week. 

Math

We will be working with coin recognition, addition, patterning, and tangrams this week.

Our Bible story this week is “Jesus is Taken to Heaven/The Holy Spirit Comes”.  Our memory verse this week is Colossians 3:2, “Set your minds on things above, not earthly things.”

Phonics

Our sight words this week are     he     no     she     so     that     Our poem this week is “Diddle, Diddle, Dumpling”.  We will continue to work on our short “a-i”.

Math

We will be working with addition, time, recognizing coins, and patterning this week.

Social Studies/Science

We will have someone from Norfolk Southern’s Operation Lifesaver coming in on Friday to talk to us about train and railroad safety.  We thought this would be a good time to do this since we are only a few weeks away from going to the Transportation Museum on our field trip.  I am sure the children will enjoy this activity.
