I pray that each of you have had a wonderful Christmas break and enjoyed your time off together. It is hard to believe that we are now in 2012, and half of the school year is about over.

Bible

This weeks lesson is “The Boy Jesus in the Temple”, and our memory verse is Exodus 20:12, “Honor your father and your mother.”

Phonics

This week we will be finishing our alphabet with the letters Yy-Zz. We are reviewing all of our letters and sounds this week preparing for our assessments next week for the end of the 2nd nine weeks grading period. We will also be working on letter writing. If you have any time at home this week, it may be beneficial for your child to work a little extra at home to help them prepare.

Math

This week we will be working on measuring, adding, and number writing. (Numbers 1-12)

Social Studies/Science/Arts

Beginning this week, the children in grades Pre-K thru 2nd will be changing classes from 2:00 to 2:50 each day. Ms. Martin, Mrs. Saleeba, and myself will be each taking a group for a week (Ms. Martin will be doing Social Studies, Mrs. Saleeba will be doing Science, and I will be doing arts/crafts, literacy, cooking, etc.) The Pre-K class will spend the first week with Ms. Martin; the Kindergarten class will spend the first week with Mrs. Saleeba; the 1st and 2nd grade will spend the first week with me. For three weeks the classes will alternate (each class will participate in the same activities-each geared to their academic level), and we will change our lessons every three weeks.
