03.31.08 Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Sets Tuition Fees and Accepts Teachers and Student Applications Grades K-6
Moneta, VA, March 27, 2008 -- Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy is now accepting applications for grades K-6th for the 2008-2009 school year. The academy will officially open its doors to its first ever student body in late August. Enrollment applications are available on the academy’s website, www.smlacademy.com, or by calling SMLCA to request a mailed copy. The student application fee is $50 until the June 1st deadline, after which the fee is raised to $100. SMLCA’s Board of Directors has established tuition fees for the school at $5,400 annually per student, $450 per month, with financial aid available for qualifying students. Tuition rates are posted on the website. Headmaster Deke Andrews said student registration indicates an exciting milestone in the private school’s progress. “We are thrilled to be moving forward with our student enrollment for the upcoming school year,” said Andrews. In addition to student applications, employment applications are also available online and by mail. SMLCA is accepting employment applications for teachers and teacher’s aides. Andrews reported that since last Monday, when the applications were first available online, the teacher application was downloaded 148 times and 19 applications have been received. 55 student applications were downloaded and seven complete applications have been received. A newly formed building committee has begun planning for a permanent facility including 15 classrooms and a multi-purpose gymnasium at LakeWatch Plantation in Westlake. A formal decision regarding the school’s temporary location will be announced in April.
