so, time was taken each day this week to honor the men and women who protect and defend our great nation. The week culminated with a presentation by Captain Bronson Makeeff (retired USMC) and father of students, Morgan and Gavin. Capt. Makeeff, whose ten years of service in the Marine Corps included a stint in Iraq, shared a picture of a tattered flag he carried with him at all times. The flag, which had been given to him by a family member, had been carried into combat in Korea, Vietnam, Kuwait, Lebonan and now the Iraq War. Capt Makeeff answered many thought-provoking questions from the students.

It was such a moving presentation, Mr. Andrews declared that November 14 would become an official "memory event" in the life of SMLCA.
